Q: What is "304" stainless steel?
A: Otherwise known as 18/8 grade steel, Type 304 grade stainless steel is used to make forks and knives. It is used for milking machines, sterilizers, and storage tanks. The beverage industry uses Type 304 stainless steel for crushing machinery and storage of citrus juices. Our reusable stainless steel lunchware is dishwasher safe and won't leach harmful chemicals into your food. Find out more about why engineers and designers choose stainless steel at: http://www.berkeleypoint.com/learning/stainless.html

Q: Are the tiffin lunchboxes watertight?
A: No. Mac ‘n’ cheese and the like will be fine though. For days when only hot chicken noodle soup will do, stick with your current thermos.

Q: Are the tiffin lunchboxes coated or painted?
A: No. They are 100% stainless steel, highly polished with no paints or coatings that can potentially chip off.

Q: Can I write on the stainless steel?
A: Yes. Use a permanent marker for labeling directly on the highly polished stainless steel surface. It will wipe off.

Q: Are the tiffin lunchboxes, cups and bowls dishwasher safe? What about the bamboo utensils?
A: Yes. Dishwashers can get hot enough to cook -and destabilize- some plastic containers but our stainless steel products can be washed and handled just like your pots and pans, or forks and spoons. The bamboo products manufacturer recommends hand washing the utensils.
